This project represented the first (1st) phase of a multi-phase project to connect the PIB’s new Skaha Hills Development with the City of Penticton’s gravity sewer system located at the intersection of the Channel Parkway and Skaha Lake Road. Approximately 1.0km of 200 mm dia. sanitary forcemain was installed underneath the paved surface of Highway 97A by directional drilling methods. The forcemain was then capped at the future lift station location (2nd phase of project) and tied to the City’s gravity sewer system. The project was complicated due to the following factors:
The narrow highway corridor and requirement for construction under the Okanagan Channel led to directional drilling being chosen as the installation method.
