About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team in Trail, BC. This role will focus on provision of engineering services during construction – including contract preparation, contract administration, and completion of field inspections.  The successful candidate will also apply construction knowledge into the design of municipal infrastructure – including roadworks, water systems, sanitary sewer systems, and storm drainage networks.  As a member of our team in Trail, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects throughout the Kootenays and apply your expertise in practical, client-centered ways.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conduct field surveys, inspections, and data collection to support design and construction.
  • Prepare construction contracts and provide construction contract administration services.
  • Complete construction inspections and reporting.

In addition, this role will involve:

  • Design of infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including creation of site grading plans, road design, and water/sewer/storm infrastructure plans and profiles.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with project teams – including Engineers, technologists, and other professionals to achieve project goals.


What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, strengths and interests:

  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in a civil engineering technology role, preferably in a municipal infrastructure environment.
  • Graduate of a Civil Engineering Technology program.
  • Registered or eligible to register with ASTTBC as an Applied Science Technologist.
  • Strong verbal (English) communication skills.
  • An outgoing, positive personality with relationship-based perspective.
  • Goal oriented with ambition for continuous improvement and increased responsibility.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Commitment, energy and a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient with construction contract preparation and contract administration, especially using MMCD.
  • Experience with field data collection including topographic survey work using robotic total station equipment.
  • Experience with construction field inspections.
  • Experience in creating civil infrastructure drawings with AutoCAD Civil 3D (including grading, pipe networks, and corridors).
  • Class 5 Drivers License and personal vehicle are required.

Salary

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 – $100,000 depending on experience.
